Character Archetypes; Dr. Myra

Dr. Myra is a character in the book Witches of Willowmere by Alison Baird.

Dr. Myra shows many characteristics of being the mentor archetype because she takes Claire (the main character) under her wing and teaches her and guides her through the truths of the Wiccan religion, what their beliefs are. Dr. Myra tries her hardest to help Claire understand the magic of it and introduce her to it, but she is gone when Claire could most use her advice and is also unreachable. She teaches Claire all she can and then lets her fend for herself (of course the only reason she isn't there is because she is a doctor and she is out of town at the time Claire needs her help).

  1. This is a good post, I would suggest though putting a quote in from your book to enhance the readers knowledge of the character. Also, consider giving more specific examples from the text about why Dr. Myra is a mentor. This would help people like myself who have not read the book, to understand it better. Other than that, great job on your blog.
